NXT TakeOver: Chicago (2018) Predictions

With a card where every match has the chance to steal the show, NXT TakeOver: Chicago has the chance to be the best NXT event of the year. Today, I provide you with my predictions for the show.

Ricochet vs Velveteen Dream 

What a rivalry this has been. Arguably two of the best on NXT's roster face off tonight in one-on-one action. Velveteen Dream has been on fire for the past year. On the other hand, Ricochet has continued to show the wrestling world what makes him so special in the ring. They can't go wrong with either guy winning this one. Though that's the case, I think Ricochet will be the one to come out on top.

Predicted Winner: Ricochet

Undisputed Era (c) vs Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch

Another great rivalry going on with these two teams. An amazing 6-man tag match was put on between Undisputed Era, and Lorcan, Burch, and Pete Dunne some weeks ago on NXT. The rivalry has been nothing but entertaining and fast-paced so far. I expect nothing less when the two teams face off tonight with the NXT tag titles on the line. Even though I'm really enjoying the team of Orcan and Burch, I don't think they'll be walking out with the titles. With Adam Cole not scheduled to compete, I expect to see him assist his fellow UE members at some point in the match. 

Predicted Winner: Undisputed Era

Shayna Baszler (c) vs Nikki Cross

There's no doubt that Shayna Baszler is the most dominant and most feared Women's Champion in NXT's history. Everyone that has tried to step up has fallen short; including Dakota Kai. After putting Kai in her place, it seemed like there were no other opponents for Baszler. Then, Nikki Cross stepped up. We haven't seen too much of Croos since the rest of SAnitY went to the main roster. I think Cross' attitude and character make her the perfect opponent for Baszler. However, I don't think it will be enough to end Baszler's reign as champion. I see the Queen of Spades winning this one, but I don't think it will be the last time we see these two face off for the title.

Predicted Winner: Shayna Baszler

Aleister Black (c) vs Lars Sullivan

 

After an unsuccessful attempt at the NXT North American Championship at the last TakeOver event, we were left wondering what was next for Lars Sullivan. Well, on May 30, we found out that he was provided an opportunity to challenge Aleister Black for the NXT Championship. Lars is on the road of a major heel push, while Black is continuing his reign as champion. Though Lars is a great competitor, I don't think it's time to put the title on him just yet. Tonight we will see Aleister cause Lars to fade to black. 

Predicted Winner: Aleister Black

Johnny Gargano vs Tommaso Ciampa

With this match being a Chicago Street Fight, it has no choice but to be messy. Their Unsanctioned Match at TakeOver: New Orleans left us in awe. So, there's a high chance that this one will do the same. After Ciampa's injury, fans were eager to see this rivalry come into play and it has been nothing short of amazing. These two are great tag team partners and great rivals. Despite Gargano winning the first match between the two, Ciampa seems to continue to get the upper hand with his attacks. I think that happens again tonight with Ciampa evening the rivalry between the two. Whether the rivalry ends tonight or not, it will undoubtedly go down as one of the greatest rivalries in wrestling history.
