2018 WWE Hall of Fame Inductee: Ivory

2018 WWE Hall of Fame Inductee: Ivory

This year's female WWE Hall of Fame Inductee is Lisa Moretti, better known as Ivory. Her Hall of Fame announcement is the one I got most excited about this year. I truly believe that she is a key pioneer for women's wrestling.

Ivory began her pro wrestling career when she debuted for Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW). She won the GLOW Championship, as well as other titles that she fought for in several independent promotions.

Ivory signed a contract with the WWF in January 1999. She originally debuted by accompanying Godfather to the ring. By February, she was placed in a storyline as Mark Henry's love interest. She would go on to valet for Mark Henry and D'Lo Brown and make her WWF television wrestling debut on February 15.

Unfortunately, during this time, women were signed to the WWF and appeared on TV because of their physical appearances. However, that didn't stop Ivory from pretty much singlehandedly carrying the women's division in 1999. This was due to the fact that Chyna was feuding with male superstars and showing that women can be just as good, and even better, than them. So, Ivory was holding it down in the women's division by actually making her rivalries with other women interesting.

In June, Ivory would defeat Debra to win the WWF Women's Championship for the first time. She would eventually turn heel and that allowed her to face Tori in the first-ever women's hardcore match.

After taking a short hiatus in early 2000, Ivory would return to television by taking on a more conservative appearance and becoming part of the Right to Censor stable. She would form rivalries with women such as Lita and Chyna.

During Ivory's last few years with the WWF, we saw her form alliances with other women in the locker room. She would also serve as a trainer on the second and third seasons of Tough Enough. Also, she hosted a show along with Todd Grisham called WWE Experience. Around mid-2005, Ivory decided to opt out of her WWE contract.

She returned to the independent circuit for a short time after leaving the company. Just like before, she would go on to win several championships.

There's no doubt that Ivory is one of the best women to ever step in WWE. During her time in 1999, she was one of the few women on the roster that was actually trained to be a wrestler. I'm incredibly excited that she is going into the WWE Hall of Fame. Along with the other people being inducted with her, she has earned this honor.
